One may also head for kunnao FRH and Churasi Kutiya where Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram is situated. Chaurasi Kutiya close to the Kunnao FRH near Rishikesh is spread over an area of 7.5 acres. The land for this ashram was given from the Landsdowne Forest Division on lease to the Maharishi in 1961. It had served as a base ashram for the Maharishi since he complete his tapasya (penance/meditation) in the Himalayas n 1957. The Maharishi was recognized around the world for the development of the ‘Transcendental Meditation’ technique and had a cult following of his own.
